‘Louisiana Fairytale’ Fall Festival Screenings

Live At Preservation Hall: Louisiana Fairytale, the documentary of My Morning Jacket and the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz band, has announced some fall festival screenings:

October 11, Reel Music Festival, Portland, Oregon

October 17 & 20th New Orleans Film Festival

October 18, New Orleans Film Festival. Preservation Hall Creative Director Ben Jaffe will be participating in a panel discussing the intersection of music and film.

October 26th & 30th, Philadelphia Film Festival

Louisiana Fairytale, directed by renown photographer Danny Clinch, documents the collaboration between New Orleans’s legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band and American rock band My Morning Jacket, culminating in an intimate live performance in the historic Preservation Hall.

For fifty years the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has played to keep the traditions of New Orleans jazz alive, both at home and on tour around the world. Along the way, they have brought in collaborators of all musical stripes to play, honor, and reinterpret America’s first true art form.

Louisiana Fairytale documents their collaboration with American rock band My Morning Jacket, showing a legendary group of New Orleans musicians passing on traditions and inspiring a new generation. The film features an intimate performance by both bands in the French Quarter’s historic Preservation Hall.


Neighbors Premiere Announced

Neighbors,  directed by Rachel Goldberg will premiere on May 9th, at the DGA in Los Angeles, as part of AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women Showcase.  The film is written by Jonathan Pope Evans and Rachel Goldberg and celebrates the beauty of unlikely friendships.  Maggie, played by Kelli Garner (Lars & the Real Girl, Kids, The Aviator), is agoraphobic, unable to leave her dilapidated trailer even to visit her sick mother.  When Lamay, played by Edi Gathegi (Twilight, X-Men, House), a feisty transvestite in an abusive relationship, moves into the trailer next door, the two begin a strange friendship that helps each of them find the strength to move forward in their lives.  Jen Malone of Black & White Entertainment proudly music supervised the film.
