MTV’s new scripted show I Just Want My Pants Back finally makes it’s debut this month.  Variety called the series “easily the channel’s best effort since plunging into the scripted business, a smart and funny look at a group adept at orchestrating hookups but with few genuine connections.”    Music Supervisor Nic Harcourt (@nicharcourt) along with coordinators JenMalone (@jenmalone666) and Eric Weiner (@thewildhoneypie) have created the perfect soundtrack for the show’s twenty-somethings living in Brooklyn as they navigate life, love, sex, career and friendships.  Playlists and free mp3 downloads for every episode (along with other MTV shows) can be found at soundtrack.mtv.com.  Tune in Thursday nights at 11pm or watch full episodes, bonus scenes and extras at mtv.com

Louisiana Fairytale, directed by renown photographer Danny Clinch, documents the collaboration between New Orleans’s legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band and American rock band My Morning Jacket, culminating in an intimate live performance in the historic Preservation Hall.

For fifty years the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has played to keep the traditions of New Orleans jazz alive, both at home and on tour around the world. Along the way, they have brought in collaborators of all musical stripes to play, honor, and reinterpret America’s first true art form.

Louisiana Fairytale documents their collaboration with American rock band My Morning Jacket, showing a legendary group of New Orleans musicians passing on traditions and inspiring a new generation. The film features an intimate performance by both bands in the French Quarter’s historic Preservation Hall.

Highlights include: I Break Horses, Exitmusic, Youth Lagoon, Nico, Oh Land and many more.

MTV is bringing viewers an all-new series that focuses on the most intense moments some young people may ever experience. Premiering Monday August 29th at 11pm ET/PT, Cuff’d is the half-hour documentary series that provides viewers with a fly-on-the-wall perspective of what happens on the ride to the precinct after young offenders are arrested. Serving as a cautionary tale, Cuff’d takes viewers front and center as these young people begin to process the consequences of their actions.   The series will air new episodes every Monday at 11pm.

August 1^st, MTV turned 30 years old.  Yes, there might not be 24 hours of videos, but the music featured in the shows has helped promote independent artists and continues to bring exposure, accessibility and opportunities to bands all over the world.

~High school is a confusing place, especially on MTV’s new teen comedy series Awkward.  (Tuesdays, 11pm). Matty likes Jenna, but he won’t go public with their relationship. Matty’s best friend, Jake, also likes Jenna, but he’s got a girlfriend. And Jenna is just trying to make it through high school unscathed, but that’s become impossible after her accident-misconstrued-as-a-suicide-attempt snafu. The new scripted series has drawn comparisons to Easy A and Heathers and of course features some of the best new music around.

~MTV’s new scripted comedy series, I Just Want My Pants Back, follows series lead Jason Strider, played by up-and- coming actor Peter Vack, and his friends as they navigate the minefield of their post-collegiate years. From acclaimed director and executive producer Doug Liman (Bourne Identity) and based upon David J. Rosen’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name, the series will feature 12 half-hour episodes. Production began July 2011 in Brooklyn, NY and is slated for a 2012 series launch.  You can catch the premiere of the pilot episode after the VMA’s on August 28th, 2011 at 11pm.

~Spring 2012 will see the premiere of the US remake of the British Hit The Inbetweeners.  Described as Freaks and Geeks meets Superbad, the half hour comedy follows four friends in High School, who are not the popular kids, but not geeky enough to be ‘uncool’.   They are The Inbetweeners.
